Joint usage of facilities
■Machine time booking of SQUID-1 & SQUID-2

Fill out the form, and then send it by e-mail or FAX. ltcenter@imr.(※) FAX Ext. (91)2168 (※Please put "tohoku.ac.jp" at the end of the e-mail address.) |
| 3. | After you get the reply mail for the confirmation of password, you can use this system. |
| 4. | In principle, the period of machine time should be within 7 days/month in total for one group. If the schedule is not so tight, you can apply more. |
| 5. | If you would like to modify or delete the registration, please notify us using the same form above. |
■Machine time booking of the other facilities

Please make a contact to one of the teaching staffs of the center and talk about the measurements you are planning by e-mail. ltcenter@imr.(※)(※ Please put "tohoku.ac.jp" at the end of the e-mail address.) |
| 2. | In principle, the period of machine time should be within 7 days/month for one group. If the schedule is not so tight, you can apply more. |
■Payment of the fee for joint use of facilities
| 1. | User fee is calculated based on the amount of liquid helium used during the measurements. |
| 2. | If you plan to use Management Grants for the payment, no special office procedure is necessary. The fee is charged through the accountant in your department or institute. |
| 3. |
If you plan to use the external funds, such as "KAKENHI" for the payment, you must submit the application form to Center for Low Temperature Science using the template file below before starting the experiments with liquid helium. It should be also noted that in principle you can not pay for the use of the facilityafter February 25th of the fiscal year (till March 31st) using the external funds. | 4. | For the time of the requests for the payments in detail, please ask the staffs of Center for Low Temperature Science. |
■Basic rules for joint usage of the equipment
| 1. | The experiments should be carried out under the responsibility of the your group leader, who must be a teaching staff of Tohoku University. Especially please consider the safety use of cryogen. |
| 2. | When you do not have confidence of usage, it is possible to ask the instruction to one of the teaching staff of the center. In this case, you should be accompanied by one of teaching staff in your group, who can learn the method and teach it from next. The use of facilities only by the students who do not understand the methods is strictly forbidden. |
| 3. | The time of start (or change of user) is 9:00 am. |
| 4. | The liquid helium necessary to the apparatus is prepared by the staffs of the center. In principle, the transfer of liquid helium to the apparatus should be done by the user himself or by the members of the user group. Especially, in case of SQUID (MPMS), the user, who finishes the measurements with the liquid helium level below 60 %, should transfer helium to 100% level for the next one. |
| 5. | If there are uneasy points about the methods or any signs of malfunction, please talk to a staff of the center. |
